Growing up in rural Georgia, I loved the sight and smell of hay bales each Summer as they dired, and it always fascinated me how seemingly dead grass could be beneficial for livestock. But then, I learned the secret. The grass is harvested when it's green, and still full of all it's nutrients, which are left preserved in the cut stems while it dries in the field. The nutrient dense fodder is ready for the livestock on cold mornings, long after the grasses have died back for the winter.

I have mourned over lost time in my life. Time that I could have used to accomplish so many things. I'm changing my inner narrative on this, and seeing now that the time that's been lost, is much like cutting back the grass when it's green. All that energy is stored away, still present, and just as potent as it was. Wisdom is allowing me to still revisit so much of what I feel I've missed and didn't make time for in earlier years. I'm very excited about the second half of my life.
