Hey there! I’m Jill Williams, watercolorist, nomad, writer of travel and art blog, Magical Musings, and founder of Watercolor with Jill- a painting membership that offers weekly in-depth instruction, and provides members with personalized direction and support for their creative process.
My purpose is promoting freedom in the artistic process and to encourage living life fully, so that creatives around me find themselves empowered to build on their own strengths and unique design. My job is to equip you with the artistic skills and mindset shifts you need to tell your own stories and interpret the world as you see it through the medium of watercolor. My work is exhibited regularly, and I teach watercolor through my membership, workshops online, and in-person through host galleries and a variety of art venues. When I’m not doing these things, I’m traveling full time with my husband in our self converted shuttlebus-home-on-wheels, while painting, sketching, hiking, kayaking, and enjoying the great outdoors of Wyoming, Montana, Alabama, Georgia, and many points in between…and I should add that I adore bacon, black coffee, campfires, cold Christmas mornings, and a good homemade lemon bar. I love sharing my passion for painting and the wonder of nature with others, so come along with me for the journey via my blog and painting membership! |
THE MAKING OF A LANDSCAPE PAINTER
A Feral Childhood & Other Nefarious Pursuits
Growing up in the deep South with acres of rural woods and farmland as my playground, had an impact on the way I understood the world. I explored it all, freely without supervision. The rising and setting of the sun were bookends for each day spent living an existence of curiosity and exploration.
The beauty and magic of creeks, fields, and woods captivated and shaped me. This is when I learned that my connection to nature would forever be a catalyst for wonder and creativity. Wow, was adulthood this shocking for everybody? Growing up and challenging the status quo…
Wow, was adulthood this shocking for everybody? My inner ‘feral child’ struggled over time to suppress her wildness and wonder, and ultimately began conforming to the world’s expectations with abandon...fast forward 3 decades, and you'll find me running through the woods again. ...But, the universe was still at work…
Lots of divine intervention, and a willingness to believe that anything is possible, allowed my sense of wonder and creativity to reclaim center stage in my life. I celebrate this, and my love for nature every day through continually evolving as an artist and helping others do the same. |

Wonder, Woods & Watercolor
Guiding other landscape artists in their creative journey is extremely satisfying for me because I know there's wild, creative treasure hidden inside each of us.
Releasing your ‘feral child’ to run free is extremely rewarding... |
...and going an adventure with friends is always more fun, so if you’re a developing landscape painter working in watercolor, I'd love to connect with you.
I’m here anytime you’d like to go on a creative journey. |
Let's Cross Paths!
I provide meaningful content that helps you zero in on your painting development and artistic style, so you can celebrate your own sense of wonder every time you walk outside or pick up your brush.
